What Do Ü Contribute To The World?

What Color Is That Word?

I stood outside The Art Institute of Chicago on March 10th, asking museum

visitors and city walkers to paint or draw on me. I started the day in all

white clothing, sat down on my chair roughly right after the museum opened

and the performance began.

In total I had over 80 people participate. The love & exchange of words

that was shared impacted me more than them in my belief.

The participants were asked "What do you contribute to the world in one

word?" After answering, I asked "What color is that word" That's the color

they got to paint or draw on me.

I wasn't painting or making art for awhile, felt like I was living as I

call it "In the gray" Not seeing & living in color, including the beauty

of life and what it has to offer. I had to remember what first made me

fall in love with art, my dreams in the world to awaken my mind to create

again. This performance did that.

I'm fascinated by what color means to people. In my life, I see

color as an expression of emotion as well as thoughts. I want to

find what color means, what that person is going through, how

that impacts their current situation, and how they handle it.

Throughout life, we express multiple colors with the evolution

of the mind & finding our soul. "We produce a color every day,

in the way we express ourselves correlating to creating shapes,

figures, organic energies etc. When we die, the masterpiece of

our life created with all of the colors is our art on a canvas

for others to look back on and remember who we where" - ANGELUS
